I wish to be considered for the internship opportunity led by MeritCare for clinical lab students for the summer of 2009. In being affiliated with NDSU, I have researched what MeritCare has to offer its student interns and am interested in learning and applying medical aspects through this educational time period. I believe that you should be passionate about your job and hope to be a part of helping the people that put their lives into our hands. I feel this internship with MeritCare would be a great opportunity for me and I believe that my education and passion for health care makes me a great asset for your program.
In Spring I will complete my college education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from North Dakota State University. This type of degree has prepared me for what I think to be excellent qualifications for an internship at your hospital.
The types of courses I have completed that are relevant to this position include: Animal Cell Culture Techniques and lab, Immunology and lab, Microbiology and lab, Methods of Recombinant DNA Techniques, Human Anatomy and Physiology with lab, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry with labs, Research and Thesis in Animal Range Sciences, Biochemistry and Physics with labs, and finally a Genetics course with lab.
My current G.P.A. is a 3.5 and I was on the Dean’s list fall of 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and spring of 2007. Professionally, my work in the Animal Range Sciences lab is the only work I have done related to my field; however the numerous jobs I have had since I was fifteen have allowed me to take on heavy responsibilities, given me an outstanding work ethic and leadership qualities, and has given me the opportunity to work with so many new people and be constantly part of a team.
Goal was to be a medical technologist and I thought biotechnology degree is what I needed. Found out CLS was more suited. The extra science and chemistry classes has made me more rounded and diverse.
